"strawberry fields forever" by the beatles
the process of our two metre length final product has arrived! i received my plain, pure cotton that cost only a small sum of £.5.40, and spending a while thinking "what the hell am i going to do with this mass of fabric?!" but sticking to my original idea, i used my all time favourite technique, tie-dye! turns out that we ran out of elastic bands and had to use string to tie the fabric up with, but to be honest, it actually works a treat, and is so much better! after tying all the bits i wanted to stay white, the whole thing looked like a lock of rapunzel's hair.
i chose to use a maximum of three colours to dye the fabric, which was "golden yellow", "turquoise" and "rust", i know the colours don't sound very exciting or very colourful for that matter, but trust me, when you merge all the colours together, it's the most beautiful combination ever! my fabric is still soaking up the dye at the moment, and i will eventually upload a picture once i've rinsed that excess dye off and it's dry to the bone, i'm very excited what it'll turn out to be, and i'm still silkscreening over the top of it, but rather than using a dark colour, i'm hoping to use a lighter colour, maybe baby blue? a light teal? or even white will make it pop!
i'm very intrugued on what the whole thing will look like, i have until friday to finish the whole thing, that includes the silkscreen print and hand/machine embroidary for the surface detaling, oh, and not to mention, i have a week from friday to finish all of my sketchbook, i think i might just pull the trigger now.
