"can't stop now" by one night only
today, i continued to make more heat transfer samples, if you don't know what heat transfer is, it's a technique that is a very clean and crisp print, something that you can find on a t-shirt, and i think it's such a great technique, it's quick, easy and looks very professional, we did two different methods in order to get different prints.
the first method was to use different things, such as lace, string/yarn, feathers and paperclips, we had to create a design with our bits and bobs, but realte it to our specific theme, i then used pieces of paper with lashes of ink, different colours on seperate papers, you then lay the inked paper over the top of your design and then sandwich it between a piece of newsprint, then use the hot press, which can get very hot, scary stuff, it's quick and easy and this method only took ten seconds, although the fumes from the press did send me a bit giddy and by the end of the day, i was high as a kite, but here are some of my examples from this particular method:
some of the colours were a bit naff and too bright for my liking, but hey, it's experimenting and it might appeal to one person and not the other, but i prefered the other method to this one, in the second method, it was the same to sandwich the design in newsprint, but this time you had to do it in two stages, you have your design on paper, and photocopy it, you then ink the photocopy of the design first, and then lay the inked photocopy face down on your choice of fabric and run it through the press, meaning you use it twice, the design i used for this method was a beautiful art nouveau girl holding several bouquets of flowers, and i loved the thick and thin outlines of the design, here's what some examples turnt out like:
i loved the way my design came out all on the different types of fabric, my favourite was the second one which is printed on wadding, and i have fallen in love with art nouveau all over again, now i'm puzzled on what print technique to use for my final product, choices, choices, choices! the possibilities are endless!
