"shangri-la" by the kinks
soon enough, i will be starting to make my two metres of printed fabric! after one of my classmates showed the whole fashion gang how much we had to print on, i'm not going to lie, i was very suprised and a little bit scared, but never the less, i'm sure the work will pay off. georgina also mentioned that we will be allowed to use a dyed fabric, instead of us dying the fabric, saving us more time.
i'm still deciding what fabric to use, i'm not too sure whether to use a really delicate plain chiffon or to using a plain un-dyed cotton and to tie-dye it in an earthy colour? so many ideas, but i've decided to silkscreen print my design, this is an example of what a silkscreen print looks like:
i love the pure, sharpness of the technique, and the design that i'm doing is based on flowers and folliage, my design is a chrysanthemum flower in the style of tattoo body art, i love how tattoos are different to most drawings, i love the use of thick and thin lines, and i think this will capture the purity of the ink on silkscreen, i'm still unsure on what surface pattern to use, i'm thinking of having a set of three of the flowers joined by the end of the stems together in a scattered motion? or either just to go full print, so many ideas and such a short time, but soon enough, you'll see my finished product!
