our second project was a very interesting one and looking at all the different aspects of fashion, eras, food, ceremonies, ect all around the world, and this project was called "culture clash" and it pretty much meant what it said on the tin, clash two countries or "cultures" together to create one final garment, and the two countries i chose where england and india, and the specific aspects i chose from these countries was the english 1970's punk scene and indian bollywood costume.
i then took a trip to worthing to pick my own fabric, which was a really nice strong cotton with an indian style swirl, which captured india to perfection, and it was monochrome in colour, capturing punk, exciting stuff!
looking at indian bollywood costume, i was particuarly inspired by the trousers worn, so i decided to create a high waisted harem trouser, i started to panic that i wouldn't get this finished, but i did manage to make the whole trouser in just one day! phew, and i was proud with the result after being made in such a short time.
i also used an old white vest top, and snipped away at the back of the top to create a rebellious, scruffy punk image, and i also used an old thick waist belt and added safety pins all the way round, a la punk.
we all modelled our garments again to a small audience, and everyone's garments were amazing, but then after spotting my parents in the audience, i was praying that my face wouldn't say a good old hello to the floor.
